Cédrika has managed to unite people of all nationalities to a degree that is beyond our imagination. She has touched the hearts of thousands of families across the world, no matter what their race or creed. She has done this as only a child can, reminding us that a child is our most precious possession.

What is a child? A child is purity and innocence, a small person with a love for life. A child is our reason for being. Our children love us unconditionally and put their trust in us. They laugh, they cry, they run, and they jump. They are part of our universe, sometimes orbiting around us, testing their independence, sometimes drawing close to us for reassurance, then…the next instant…they are gone! We thought they were safe. We thought we had all the time in the world to enjoy them. Without warning, sickness, an accident, or a kidnapper comes to take them away from us. Suddenly, our world falls apart and our dreams turn to nightmares. Regrets about all those “I love you’s” that were left unsaid. Regrets caught inside us, causing heart-wrenching pain. Despair and anguish, hope and hopelessness, resignation and rebellion, tolerance and anger - conflicting emotions that churn deep inside and create turmoil in the very core of our souls. We are rendered helpless. Reality has slapped us in the face…
This second Christmas is marked with great sadness and a sense of deep helplessness concerning Cédrika’s fate. Regardless of our continuing distress, may people everywhere accept our best wishes and sincere thanks for all that they have done.
A SECOND CHRISTMAS without… The Christmas season – a time for sharing and fellowship, a time to open our hearts, to show our gratitude, and to express our deepest feelings…
We would like to acknowledge the many people who have become involved in the search for our little one.
August 6, 2008 WE ARE LOOKING FOR PART-TIME VOLUNTEERS TO HELP FIND CÉDRIKA. For more than a year now, Cédrika’s family has been searching tirelessly for her. Hundreds of pieces of information have been transmitted to us, and we receive additional clues every day. The variety in these reports send us to the four corners of the country. It is impossible to be everywhere at once and to look into every detail without wasting countless hours travelling from one place to the other. Since Cédrika’s disappearance, many people have shown their sympathy to the cause and their eagerness to help. Many citizens have become involved, each volunteering in his or her own way. The Provencher family has re-organized its system of carrying on their search, and we need occasional help from people who are willing to follow up on information pertinent to their own region, village, town or sector. If you have friends or contacts outside the province or country, they are welcome to join in. With this kind of help, we will see a snowball effect with rapid checks and increased efficiency which will give us a better chance of finding Cédrika. To the general population, please continue to support and encourage us. To all children, please be careful, but live life to its fullest and be happy. To all parents, please be vigilant and keep a watchful eye on your children without suffocating or imprisoning them. To all predators, “ Don’t touch our children! Zero tolerarnce!”
On this occasion, we, Cédrika’s family, would like to express our sincere gratitude for all your kindness, concern, generosity, support, and encouragement. The interest you have shown in Cédrika’s welfare is deeply appreciated by us all.
For us, Cédrika’s family, it is a second Christmas without our ray of sunshine, a painful absence that washes the joy of previous Christmases away. In spite of this, thanks to your support and your goodwill, we keep hoping that someday, people will bring us the information we need to find our beautiful child. May the hearts of these people be blessed…
A heartfelt thank-you to the policemen, the newspaper reporters, the volunteers, the search teams, the Internet users, the donors, the organizers, the sponsors, the printers, the billposters, the secretaries, and the mediums, as well as all the people who have welcomed us into their offices and their homes or who have assisted us in any way. Many thanks to all those who have generously given their time and/or money or who have contributed in some fashion to our search for Cédrika over the past 16 months.
